Two Public Meetings Focus on Interstate 20 Corridor
ODESSA DISTRICT – Two public meetings to discuss proposed improvements on Interstate 20 in both Ector County and Midland County are scheduled later this month. The first meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2019, at the Midland Horseshoe’s Education Building, 2514 Arena Trial in Midland. The second meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Odessa College, 201 W. University Blvd., in Odessa. The meeting will take place in the Joe Zant Community Room in the Saulsbury Campus Center.
Both meetings will present the same basic content. The meetings are designed to present the proposed improvements along Interstate 20 from FM 1936 in Ector County to just east of Business Interstate 20 in Midland County. Included in the proposal are new interchanges with overpasses, reconfiguration of existing overpasses, ramp relocations, service road improvements (including rehabilitation), converting service roads to a one-way configuration, and adding main lanes in each direction.
The meetings will focus on a high-level schematic drawing of the entire corridor. Discussion of things like right of way, traffic control devices, utility relocations, funding, and construction timelines in specific areas will vary in depth since project-level details have not been developed on some phases.
At this time, not all of the proposed improvements have been funded for construction.
Maps of the area and other displays will be available for review and comment. TxDOT staff and a consultant team will be available to answer questions. The meetings will consist of an open house from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a brief presentation at 6 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session. The meetings are scheduled to end at 7 p.m.
The meeting will be conducted in English. People interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact Gene Powell at the TxDOT Odessa District Public Information Office at (432) 498-4746, at least two working days prior to the meeting.
