Odessans voted in favor of Propositions 1 and 2. The passage of Proposition 1 establishes an At-Large Council Member to City Council. Peggy Dean was elected to serve as the At-Large Council Member and will serve an initial two year term. Four year terms for the At-Large position will start with the 2020 general election. The passage of Proposition 2 entitles the Mayor to vote upon all matters before the Council.

Mari Spivey Willis secured the District 5 council seat and Detra White secured the District 3 Council seat. Willis, White and Dean will be sworn in November 27, 2018

The City Charter requires a candidate to receive a majority of votes of all votes cast. The initial report does not have a majority vote for any of the three candidates in District 4. Ector County Election officials are reviewing ballots and will provide final election results on Wednesday, November 14. City Council will hold a special Council meeting the same day, Wednesday, November 14, at 5p.m. to canvass the election results and call a runoff election, if necessary. If a runoff election is needed, early voting will take place on selected days between November 26 – December 7 and Election Day will be Tuesday, December 11.
